It’s time to talk about a proud Scottish celebration that’s happening on the 25th January: Burns Night. The legacy of Robert Burns is still going strong, and with so many people with Scottish roots in London - it’s a date worth adding into your calendar.

There’s a lot to love about Scottish cuisine and ingredients. For those of you not yet convinced, Scottish Chef Mark Greenway has got something to say:

For so many years Scottish food did have a bad reputation, but some of the best produce comes from Scotland – whether that’s the scallops, lobster, beef or lamb. Any chance to celebrate it is also a chance to promote it.”

Chef Mark Greenway

I personally love the simplicity and indulgent dessert Cranachan.

A Scottish dessert of toasted oats, fresh raspberries, cream, sugar, heather honey and of course a good dash of Scotch.

A dish that really fits the bill around this time of year is the old classic Cullen Skink. At its core it’s a delicious leek and potato soup but with the addition of smoked haddock, milk liquor, cream, chives and parsley. Those extra ingredients really elevate it to another level. Perfect with chunky brown bread and butter!
